There are some television programmes that really grab my attention from time to time. One such programme for me at the moment is Dragons Den. The concept of this is where ordinary folk have a stab at being product designers and then put their ideas to a panel of experts to see whether the initial idea would be good enough to put into production. They have to decide whether it would be a marketable and profitable design to develop.

It’s my friend’s daughter’s 18th birthday at the weekend she’s having a big lavish party. I think she’s having one of these themed parties in a local hall. We’ve been invited by my friend I think it’s mainly to oversee that the kids don’t get too drunk and out of control. I am quite looking forward to it though. I think she has chosen the theme of James Bond so the boys can all dress up in smart tuxedos and suits and the girls can wear something very glamorous indeed.

Some days I feel my kids should consider chauffeur hire. The reason for this is that I seem to spend most of my weekends travelling goodness knows where with a car full of children. Now unfortunately it’s made even worse with my 15 year old son acquiring a girlfriend (oh yes!) and of course she doesn’t live on a bus route. So nearly every day it’s “mum can you give take me” and “mum can you pick me up”.
As I’m sitting at work freezing and shivering, it begs me to ask the question “why does the air conditioner unit above my head still appear to be blasting out cold air on me?” Now I’m not one to moan about being cold (well actually I am) but it’s always my mouse operating hand that gets the coldest. There must be an air vent or something right above my mouse hand.
I have thought about sitting in the office wearing fingerless gloves but am guessing the bosses wouldn’t be too impressed. It wouldn’t give a very professional look with me sitting here wearing fluffy gloves now would it? Although I must say I am very tempted.

I’ve just discovered a marvellous new thing (well it’s new to me) in the guise of photo books. I intend to spend my next week off work getting all our family photos down from the loft, sorting through all the photos on the camera and getting them all into order.
I’m really looking forward to sorting them all out. I love a great sort out session. It will be great fun looking back on all the photos of our children when they were young. More to the point it will be really fun looking back on photos of me when I was young. It’s scary how time passes by so quickly.
Ever had one of those mornings when you just wish you had stayed in bed.
This morning was one of those mornings for me. I woke up bright and early only to find that I had suffered a nose bleed in the middle of the night. It looked like there had been a massacre on my pillow and on the top of my duvet cover, which very irritatingly I had only put on clean and fresh that morning. So after stripping my bed and loading the washing machine I then found that my ever so sweet yellow labrador had decided to shred one of her lovely stuffed toys in the middle of my kitchen floor so there was stuffing and fluff all over the place.
Being a parent of a teenage boy can be somewhat frustrating and surprising at times. Yesterday I had a phone call from my sons mathematics teacher which to be honest was no surprise. Over that last few months (he’s 15) I received several phone calls from her complaining about his attitude and how he disrupted the rest of the class by his antics. He was never nasty or malicious but by character he is a bit of a showman and a joker and loves to be the centre of attention.
Yesterday after being at work for 6 hours I then had the job of taking our 2 year old mad and oh so playful yellow Labrador for a walk. She was supposed to be a family dog with everyone doing their fair share of dog walking so why is it usually down to me to walk her I wonder?
